Craft Membership

TO be eligible for the scheme a craft is defined as a handmade traditional or contemporary item made using skilled processes and techniques. So Craft Membership can include a diverse range of products from angora rugs to pottery. The Direct from Dorset criteria for Craft are as follows:

The business must be based and operate within Dorset and the product must comply with all relevant trading standards and consumer protection legislation. The process of making the product must have taken place within Dorset. 50% of the materials must be sourced from within the County. Applicants will be required to sign an undertaking that Dorset materials will be used whenever it is reasonable to do so taking into consideration quality, availability and price. A scoring system has recently been introduced to ensure that all applications can be assessed fairly and accurately.

What's the next step?

If you would like to apply either download an application form or give us a call and we’ll send you one. Once you’ve completed it return it to us at Direct from Dorset. The application will then be passed to Dorset Trading Standards to carry out checks to ensure the product fits the criteria. Once they are happy it will be passed to the Steering Group Membership Panel to be approved.
